Plenary Session Two

Title

Cyber Insurance & Risk Management: Closing the Gap

Brief

Technology is contentedly becoming more and more the main driver our life styles, but along with developed technology, risk also develops, taking several forms, and occurs through several means.

In addition to this developing, the rate of these incidents occurring is growing rapidly, the WannaCry ransomware attack in May 2017, for example impacted more than 200000 systems worldwide, this was swiftly a month later by the Petya (and variants) ransomeware attack that had its epicenter in Ukraine and caused widespread disruption.

As cyber technology is omnipresent and the risks can trigger claims under traditional insurance products, some insurance companies choose to endorse their traditional property or casualty policies with cyber extensions. Overall, however, new stand‑alone cyber covers are appearing.

However, due to the sensitivity of the information, insureds are often reluctant to share details of their security measures and history of incidents. This is well understood in the insurance market but does not help proper pricing and slows down the learning process for all parties – insureds, insurers and reinsurers alike.

Title

Insurers' Solvency Valuation

Brief

Solvency has changed the way insurers in Europe regulate their business, and the way they evaluate risks, which resulted in a new business environment.

The real value should be based on capturing the impact of a required capital and returns of different product designs and other management actions, such as investment strategies and reinsurance, which shapes future decision making.
